I think the first thing wrong with the game franchise is the title itself. How at certain points in the game, usually as part of missions that involve the theft of a vehicle or vehicles, or if you are "free roaming" and need to get somewhere fast.
A major component is gang warfare. Most missions tend to involve working for a gang or several gangs as each game progresses. It seems to suggest that people of certain nationalities turn to a life of crime just to get by, which is an obvious stereotype.
And of course the big one is how easily accessible weapons are in the games. Most of them have stores where you can buy them, they can be found in random places throughout the game, and taken from a fallen enemy.
Another common theme is betrayal. Usually the protagonist is betrayed by somebody they trusted, and because of this they are forced to resort to unorthdox methods to survive all while trying to get revenge on the person or people who betrayed them, which is usually how each game ends, with a showdown between the protagonist and the person or people who betrayed them. The fact that seeking revenge as being a big part of the games' narrative is quite obvious.
